I was really excited for the changes in game balance that it brought more than anything. Run n gun is a massive nerf to animals and melee and makes kiting much easier….. For the player. The AI won’t run away from your melee. If you can beat manhunters packs and tribals by walking backward, something is wrong. Ogrestack- true, big warehouses are annoying, but late game they’re the only real reason to expand, and preferable to just having giant empty rooms.

Walking backward would basically never work, even against a person. Imagine a crazy dude with a knife charging at you, you’d have a blink of an eye to react, there’d be no walking backward. One you don’t immediately mention is Sparkling Worlds – very well balanced and adds a late stage to the game without getting overpowered. Also adds several new events which is the one area I feel the base game is really lacking.

The feral pack is fun as well but does add a new nonhuman attacker. The federation one feels OP. Cupro’s Bulk Stonecutting helps with this – they will cut 1, 3, 5, or 10 chunks at a time into blocks (each increment taking a bit longer) – be careful not to have the ingredient range set to unlimited – otherwise, pawns can pass out simply from trying to haul 10 chunks to cut! It’s an alternative to VG with the same overall principle (more growable/cookable/drugs) but done in a different style. Also adds opioids (called Zopioids in the mod) so yeah, space crack!
