I think I judged this song unfairly at first. Because of Taylor Swift Myosotis Sylvatica Forget Me Not Shirt pastel and rainbows music video, I wasn’t actually able to separate the song from the video and really listen to it — but now I do think it fits Taylor perfectly. Is it my favorite? No, but I’ve been listening to it nonstop today! This is probably a stretch. The beginning of the ME! video (the apartment, grand room with the stairs) reminds me of The Great Gatsby.

The green walls could be a nod to the green light Taylor Swift Myosotis Sylvatica Forget Me Not Shirt was obsessed with overlooking the ocean and you could interpret as a symbol of love – dream versus reality (among other things). When Taylor walks out of the house she is in what looks like a London neighborhood. Taylors green light is across the pond in London. That’s where her love (Joe) is – if not physically then its a symbol for him. Maybe she’s saying her dream is her reality with Joe. Does anyone else feel like Taylor is putting more effort into the easter eggs than her music and lyrics nowadays? I don’t think that songs have to be lyrical masterpieces to be good, but ME! just comes across as childish and uninspired.

On the other front, she seems to have the most Taylor Swift Myosotis Sylvatica Forget Me Not Shirt eggs and clues of any era yet, which is fun, but still. All the countdowns in the world are worthless if what you’re counting down to doesn’t deserve the hype. I know that Taylor always wants to get people talking with her lead single, but she absolutely is capable of generating buzz and creating an earworm that still has original lyrics. Though I’ve never loved any of her lead singles, I feel like this is her weakest one in a while, and I don’t think that in the long run, ME! will be looked upon as iconic. That being said, it isn’t terrible, and I’m still extremely excited for the rest of the album.
