But I need to talk about this whole Eli Civil War thing. I feel as though a good amount of “Progress” folks revel. When Manning does not play well. And almost root for it to happen so they have more fuel for their message. I don’t question anyone as a Giants fan, but I really do question. Where a lot of people come from when it comes down to analysis or even talking about #10. The tonality, the messaging.
What does September mean?
The circle-jerking when articles come out, whatever – it just feels off and nasty sometimes. I absolutely admit I get defensive and aggressive. When I see some of those posts – I strongly, strongly believe Manning can play good ball for a few years. I strongly, strongly believe the root cause of all of our issues stems from the OL. I believe Eli is still Eli, he’s never been elite outside for a few timely stretches. But he can still make all the throws if he trusts his OL….but I don’t want Flowers to suck. I don’t want Shane Smith to whiff on blocks so I can say “ah hah, let me go post this GIF on Reddit”. I don’t know, I think there definitely are attacks coming from our side (that sounds fucking stupid typing)

Do whatever with this post, I’m not going to respond to anything – this is just how I feel on the situation and why I don’t like where the sub is at. I don’t care if I’m right or if I’m wrong but I’m a psycho, I understand that. To be honest, in a perfect situation, Eli would likely be fine, but we aren’t a perfect situation. I also agree that he was, outside of a few stretches, never elite, I always felt like he was a few notches above league average. We will never be a perfect situation though. And I was wrong about that at the time. I was high on the “we need a new coach” bandwagon and I wanted to be right about that and I wasn’t and I’ve learned my lesson. You’re right, it feels like everyone is attacking everyone. Just because I’m curious, how old are you? Do you remember the Giants before Eli? I’m just testing out that theory, I think the heavily “Eli Still Has It” crew is under 30. But I have ZERO evidence.

Anecdotally, I’m 37 and pragmatically in the “Eli Still Has It” crew. Sorry, I am already taken by a smart & sexy September guy shirt. To be fair, way back when, I was fanatically in the “Simms Still Has It” crew too so I could be completely wrong here. It doesn’t really matter if he still has it. He’s not mobile and he’s got no protection. That’s not going to make for a great season and there’s really nothing we as an organization can do about it at this point.
