I know it’s been like 16 years or whatever, but I still miss the World Wrestling Federation. Official Remind me to take attendance shirt. In particular, I miss when wrestlers or announcers would say the entire name…”The World Wrestling Federation Champion, anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation, etc.” for effect. Damn you panda. Damn you to hell! Man, seriously. Just calling it the “Federation” sounded so badass. Given Vince’s penchant for getting away from anything sounding “too” much like wrestling, I wonder if we would have eventually ended up with WWE anyway.
What is attendance?
Haha well I’m only half kidding, but you are probably right. I am sure Vince has been wracking his brain for years on how he can get rid of wrestling from the company name. On the Spring Break-out 2000 show (two weeks before the April 10th reboot), he was chosen by Paisley from a group of 3 jobbers to face the cruiserweight champ, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea. In an upset victory, Modest won… but it was a non-title match. He disappeared again afterward until almost a year later when he showed up on Nitro to face Christopher Daniels. My mom who wasn’t a huge fan but knew the product well enough made me go up to him at WM18 fan access and have him autograph Mick Foleys Christmas book. He was “none too pleased” with the gesture but was funny and we loved it.
Remind me to take attendance shirt, ladies, v-neck t-shirt, tank top, flowy tank.
I have a hard time believing this. How would she know what happened on a random house show, especially since you say she wasn’t a big fan and I’m sure she didn’t read forums like wrestlezone and others. Sorry. Ribs on VHS ( I can’t remember the one but it features foley, edge, and Christian sharing Al Snow Jokes) and their tag team drama in 99. She wasn’t hardcore but I pretty much forced the poor woman to watch. I just moved out but I’ll share a pic of us at the event. I had some sweet hair back then. Pretty much on the spot with the prediction for the original XFL. Had big ratings, but they declined as the weeks wore on and the league died after just one season. I predict they’ll load the first episode with a bunch of returns, nostalgia acts, and celebrities. 1/3 of the audience will drop off after that episode because they’re tuning in to see the New Smackdown Live and realize nothing’s changed in years and another 1/3 will drop off after a couple weeks
Official Remind me to take attendance sweater, hoodie, and long sleeve
Yup. But every time Dave mentions something like that on Twitter these days, Official Remind me to take attendance shirt. he gets a bunch of “what about cord cutters?!” replies. People just don’t understand how HUGE wrestling was back then and how hard it’s fallen since. Sure, WWE is more profitable than ever but that’s not because WWE is more popular than ever. Not by a long shot. I won’t dispute wrestling being way more popular then, but you definitely have to take consumption means in as a factor. Ratings were huge back then A) because wrestling was very mainstream, very cool, and very popular, but B) because you had to watch it live.
