Official Black women matter Shirt
There’s been a lot of brigading recently, even on tiny threads that aren’t on ‘controversial’ issues. Official Black women matter Shirt wondering if it’s bot brigading. I wouldn’t doubt it. We’ve had bots turns on us before from the hate subs and angry white dude “Hemisphere” corner of Reddit. (Right-wing, men’s rights, bawwwh SRS and Tumblr communities) So, that’s not unlikely at all. This is heartbreaking. It’s so sad that someone who was committed to empowering others and raising their self-esteem couldn’t do the same for herself. I read a bit of her blog and it sounded like

she went through a lot in recent months…her mother passed away from illness and it’s evident in her writing how much her mother meant to her. Entirely too much death happening right now in the Natural community. Before this, Dominique dying from lupus and another Vlogger who passed from childbirth complications. I admit that I did not know her, but this event does serve as a reminder that social advocacy is mentally taxing, and along with our everyday worries, dedication to it can wear a person out, with tragic results. I hope anyone of us who feels overwhelmed can engage in much-needed self-care. I know earlier this week I decided to have a “haters to the left” day where I did not visit problematic areas in the offline and online world, and if I experienced a racist/sexist microaggression, I talked about it immediately with an empathetic person in my peer group. I hope other people come up with any strategy that they need in order to prevent tragedies like these from happening. Mental health is still a very taboo issue in the Black community. I wish our community was more open as it relates to people getting treatment. I’ve met people who’ve said they don’t want a “white man” telling them about their problems, speaking about therapy. I think this attitude is very prevalent.

IMO statements like this contribute to black women keeping their feelings and their mental health issues to themselves. Black women matter Shirt are always expected to stay strong, and the pressure of that can be overwhelming to those who are hurting. I know it’s supposed to be supportive, I was just saying in the context of mental health and suicide, “strong” is a loaded word, and telling people to stay strong can come off as dismissive or insensitive.
