I’m going to try to stretch this comment to avoid being autodeleted. But, I don’t understand why people try to force feed themselves music. Merry Christmas Liam Gallagher as you were shirt. Sure, its good to listen to a wide variety of music, but can you really listen to something and experience it after one or two listens? I don’t think I can take an opinion of someone whose just crammed as much possible music into their life without taking real time to grow with and reflect on the works. Personally, I try to listen to one new artist a week, but even that sometimes is pushing it. I may download 50 albums at once, but I don’t really count skimming through the songs once as listening. Until I’ve sat and heard the album at least 5 times over a period of time – I wouldn’t say I’ve really heard the music.

In one instance I might be trying to understand the music on an emotional level and get all that I can out of it, and in another instance. Merry Christmas Liam Gallagher as you were shirt. I might just be looking for a music-buzz to go with whatever else I might be doing. If I’m just looking for a buzz, then I don’t need to know the in’s and out’s of the record. But, I do think that listening to music as HW gets exhausting. Most music I won’t listen to more than one song. Usually, If I find one song I like a lot I go to get the discography. That can take me weeks to months to explore depending on the depth. I would say 6-12 months is the trial period before I can tell if I really like a band or if it was just a fling that I was digging for a minute. I tend to have 4-5 albums in rotation constantly, some of them I’ve been listening to for years.

I don’t think this applies – at least to me since I’m usually doing more than one thing than just sitting, doing nothing, and listening to an album. Merry Christmas Liam Gallagher as you were shirt. I’m driving, cooking, hanging out with someone, browsing the web, cleaning, whatever. So, I don’t see it as wasted time. Also, some might say that’s more of a waste of time to listen to the same band for months or years on end. As I said before, people have different philosophies behind listening habits. What you’re trying to achieve is not necessarily what someone else is. Also (and I’m sorry), it’s “pique my interest,” not “peak my interests. I never am just listening to music. music is a passive hobby for me. but even at that, listening to something I don’t like for more than one track is a waste to me. there is so much music out there.

I used to torrent hundreds of albums a day and rush through all kinds of music and I’ve honestly never gone back to most of it. Merry Christmas Liam Gallagher as you were shirt. It was an unfulfilling experience. This is pretty much exactly what I do, except there are two distinct listening “modes” for me. When I’m actively searching for new stuff I might skim over a few songs or records from several different artists, but I never force myself to listen to that many entire albums. I usually get a genre or something I’m trying to get more of. Then check the last FM/redacted or wherever for recommendations. Then I’ll youtube a few songs of each artist. I pick out ones I like and get 2-3 albums from them. If I don’t really like it as much as I thought I usually just never go back to it. If its something I really end up liking it might stay in rotation for months.
