Sleeping Queens, I love that Make a No-Sew Dr. Seuss thing one shirt! I bought it for my 7-year-old cousin and I had more fun than expected. Looking at your list, it looks like you cater for some younger board gamers too, great work! Twilight Struggle definitely seems like the odd duck in this collection. I happen to love Cold War history, but yes, it’s the only heavy game I have. That should change this year somewhat. Our group found Minerva to be a fine game; nothing too stellar, but certainly not awful like your reaction to it makes it seem. It just sounds like you didn’t do too well on your first game and blamed the game instead of yourself.

Whoa, no need to get all defensive dude. You’re free to your own Make a No-Sew Dr. Seuss thing one shirt of course. It was just such a negative reaction that I felt like replying, particularly because I have played that game and didn’t find it so imbalanced. Like, I’ve played some games I absolutely hated (guards comes to mind) but I never felt compelled to get rid of the game as soon as possible. If you’re just ah January, to be honest, I’d start all over. You’ve barely scratched the surface of the game, will have been spoiled by almost nothing, and it’s such a great game it would be a shame not to play it just because you had a bad first run! The first couple of times I played Elder Sign I was also very cool on it, and then avoided playing it for probably two or three years after.

When I finally played it again it suddenly clicked for me, and I actually ended up enjoying it far more than I’d expected to given my previous response to the Make a No-Sew Dr. Seuss thing one shirt. Try it again some time, you might just need to reset your expectations in order to enjoy it. We only played it once because we have too many games and the wife always wants to see a new one. I really liked it – gameplay was slick with no dice, shared infrastructure, random draw deck, and beautiful pieces. I wish I had more time to play again as there is a solo attack mode. This is exactly why I got rid of Keyflower. I wish it were a hair more accessible.
