It was my first half a couple years ago and I had to miss it last year due to injury, wish I could’ve done it. Consistently getting to bed early is really hard. I struggle with it a lot. Things that help are not planning too many activities/chores in the evening and setting a hard stop time- i.e. telling yourself at a given time you stop whatever you’re doing and get ready for bed. After that point, it’s just relaxation and unwinding. No chores, no TV, no computer, etc. What also helps is setting limits on what you can use your bedroom for. For me, it’s strictly sleeping and relaxing.

Basically, the only things I spend any time doing in the bedroom are reading and sleeping. Consistency is key- once you go a few days in a row getting up crazy early, things start to work out- you’ll be so tired you’ll be ready to drop after spending 15 minutes with a book at bedtime. Favorite pottery? Tough to say… I’m still very new to it, and I wouldn’t have even considered myself bordering on competent until this year. I don’t have a whole lot of stuff yet that I consider good but I’m making huge strides every time I go to the studio, and feel really good about where I’m headed. I made a couple of cool beer mugs though. When I first started running this was my mantra too. Just 600 meters to the next mile. just 400 meters to the next kilometer.

Usually, I just have to do that to get myself out of a brief mood of wanting to stop- once I get going I normally want to keep going unless things are really bad. Breweries in Pittsburgh. There are a ton and I haven’t even been to half of them. Many of them have specialties. Strange Roots does a ton of awesome sours. Dancing Gnome specializes in IPAs and they’re great at it. Allegheny City is a nice neighborhood type place with a variety of styles. Hitchhiker does varied things too and they’re also really good. Don’t waste your time on Penn Brewery or Church Brew Works. They’re no good but people who don’t know a lot about beer and/or tourists love them because Penn has this whole German beer hall thing going on.
