I’ve been playing the game every day since launch and honestly I hate the graphics. Family is love #justlove Shirt. This engine is just so dated and I can’t appreciate it with games like Red Dead Redemption 2 in my collection. I’m playing on Xbox One X. The game may be in 4K, but a 4K potato is still a potato. Man, I hate to see all the hate when I and my friends (at least those who have tried it instead of bitching about it, just because they saw one post that said it was bad,) all really like it. I sense sarcasm. But look, dude, I love that you love it. It just doesn’t offer me what I personally love from Fallout. I like toying with the lives of fellow wasters. I like being a part of a story with branching pathways that my choices directly affect. The thing every Fallout does well.

That’s my one constant that thankfully at least 76 delivered on. Family is love #justlove Shirt. Its just so god damned desolate. Fair enough. I like killing an NPC and seeing the repercussions in how other NPCs behave and react to my presence. I like more variation in my questing. These are my main kinds of beef, but for me, they are two BIG ones. Like, if there 4 parts that make a Fallout for me it is 1. World 2. Narrative/quests 3. NPCs 4. Looting And 76 only delivers on half of that winning formula. And it honestly feels like a pizza without cheese. Sure, you can still eat it, and you may really like tomato paste, but I’ll be god damned if you were wishing for a complete pie. I think many people are overlooking the game.

There are a lot of positive things that FO76 provides that none of the previous titles have. Family is love #justlove Shirt. Social interaction being the biggest thing, but the new perk system adds a lot of build diversity that was lacking in FO4. There is a larger diversity of weapons/modifications as well as many new monsters that didn’t exist previously. The new VATS system and combat in general with multiplayer feels good. Quests are more hashed out in my opinion. There is so much more background through and terminal logs that were easy to ignore in FO4. To go through your points: 1. The new world in Appalachia is beautiful, with the new lighting and vibrant colors, the environment really comes to life. 2. Like I said above, the quests still have depth, but it requires more effort.

The players are meant to take the place of NPCs. Family is love #justlove Shirt. The players create the story and write the narrative of their world. 4. Looting. So much looting in FO76. There are restrictions with the stash limit and the obvious carry weight limit, but it’s essential for the survival aspect that was ever present in “survival” mode of the previous games. It adds to the other struggles of the wasteland: hunger, thirst, disease, and mutations. I have no idea how much I’ve played, but I really like it. It may not be the BEST Fallout game, but I wouldn’t say it’s the worst. Maybe when the hype is over my opinion will change, but for now, a couple of bottles of beer in a crate near a gravestone. was it a drunk? someone remembering a family member and bringing them a gift.
