I’m curious what the legalities are here. Christmas camero crew shirt. If an officer needs to drive through a “set” (a closed off section of the city, not private property) in order to respond in a timely manner to a call, is the PD responsible for notifying the people filming? If someone hits the officers car, are they responsible or was there a reasonable expectation of not having any “real” police around. Could the officer or the PD be held responsible for any damages, to put it another way, was the action of going through the set “unreasonable”?
What does Camero mean?
Like AgentSway mentioned, the police have the right to go through a closed set (since it’s still public property), but they’re supposed to notify the crew and the crew is supposed to stop filming. I’d wager the city is going to end up buying the crew a new Camero. I posted before AgentSway did 😉 I know that a film crew has to pay ass-loads of money for the permits to do closed-set filming in a city. I’d assume the permits cover procedures and such. I’d think a “closed set” would have roadblocks around it to keep cars out that try to get on set or get lost/ignore signs. And what would happen if they couldn’t stop filming? Say a 5 minute long series of timed pyrotechnics and cars crashing etc. Seems like the time required to safely drive through what at any time could be a construction or demolition zone versus going around at a higher rate of speed would be about the same.

Yeah, someone definitely made a conscious choice to drive through a closed set. It’s a huge fuck-up, and someone is going to be paying for it. There’s reasonable notice for these kinds of things. There has to be communication in both directions to let the crew know what emergency services needs. And let emergency services know what the crew can reasonably do. At no point in time, it is okay for emergency services to drive through a closed set without prior notification. In that case, the city would have to show that there was some pressing emergency that was so urgent. They were willing to risk cutting through a populated and active area. It’d be hard to show that a suspicious package was so important that they were willing to not even arrive. On the scene rather than going around and getting there. Sounds a lot of expense for them when it would be a drop in the ocean for the movie studio. Plus the time taken to customize a Camero to that level would delay the film. They might just finish it off with the duplicate they have in another state.

Oh, don’t get me wrong Christmas camero crew shirt. I wasn’t suggesting who has the most $ has any influence on who should or shouldn’t pay. Just musing out loud that -damn- be an expensive mistake for the police if it is deemed their fault. Especially if the studio insists they cough up, within their right to, then don’t use it anyway. thinking about it more If they don’t have a backup hero car and police found liable it’ll be tagging on the cost of delayed production too! No more donuts for a few years.
